Whitley Bay Squadron is one of the 35 Squadrons that make up the Durham Northumberland Wing of the Air Training Corps, we are an enthusiastic, dynamic, Squadron with a long history and strong identity. 1156 Squadron is constantly evolving and providing new challenges for both the staff and Cadets.

The squadron has a dedicated team of cadets and staff that put a lot of effort into the running of the Squadron and participating in the many varied activities associated with the Air Training Corps. We have achieved a lot of success in the past which anyone can see by looking at our trophy cabinet. We are working to ensure that this continues in the future and that Whitley Bay Squadron continues to improve and remains very firmly at the top!

This website is currently undergoing updates as many of the features are now quite dated, however, I hope that the site will soon be back on track and will be updated as regularly as possible by both my team of Staff and cadets, and myself, bringing you the latest news and updates about our Squadron.

If you would like to know more about the Air Cadets then hopefully this site will help, we are always willing to accept new cadets (aged 13-17) and members of staff (aged 20+), if you think the Air Cadets might be for you and you would like to know more then you can contact me at OC@1156.org.uk alternatively you could look at the Corps Website at www.aircadets.org.

Best Regards,

Flt Lt S Kirtley RAFVR(T)
Officer Commanding.

After a few hours of hard work by the Commanding Officer (Flight Lieutenant Steve Kirtley) to initially get things moving, and under the new control of CI Bobby Proctor it looks like this valuable tool is finally going to be of use again!
